Georgian College names new Dean for Orillia campus

Dr. Mary Noce will begin her new position on Sept. 7

The university will welcome Dr. Mary Louise Noce as its new Dean, Human Providers and Local community Safety, at the Orillia Campus. Dr. Noce will start her new role on Sept. 7.  

“Mary Louise brings additional than 16 several years of experience in the Ontario postsecondary sector to Georgian,” mentioned Kevin Weaver, Vice President, Tutorial. “Her profession is distinguished by progressively liable leadership roles and a shown commitment to fairness, range and inclusion.”  

As Director of Study Fairness, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives at Sheridan Faculty, Dr. Noce led the college’s participation in the nationwide Proportions pilot ― an initiative of the three federal granting companies in collaboration with Universities Canada and Faculties and Institutes Canada ― running and creating techniques to combine EDI methods within just the scholarly, exploration and creative ecosystem.

She also released Sheridan’s inaugural personnel self-identification census, led the creation of Foundations of Equitable Practice Training for personnel and formulated a School Exploration Mentorship Software.  

Previously, Dr. Noce served as Associate Dean of Community Scientific studies, exactly where she led the enhancement of Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Social and Neighborhood development degree and superior application high quality enhancements. Most notably, Dr. Noce created a top quality assurance follow innovation discovered by the College Good quality Assurance Audit Approach as an institutional best observe. This fostered important neighborhood partnerships, resulting in the development of experiential studying and neighborhood-engaged scholarship opportunities for pupils and college.  

Dr. Noce also served as interim Dean for the School of Applied Wellness and Neighborhood Experiments wherever she collaborated on the progress of the Faculty’s academic approach. Her postsecondary sector encounter also features roles as Professor of Social Science, General Schooling Co-ordinator, and Curriculum Consultant.  

Along with a determination to lifelong understanding, Dr. Noce carries on to be included in social function pedagogy and follow by subject instruction and supervision of graduate students in the University of Windsor’s Grasp of Social Get the job done doing the job professionals’ method.
