BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) — A former education minister of Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a federal police corruption investigation, even further hurting the far-suitable leader’s bid for reelection.
Milton Ribeiro left the article in March just after Brazilian media documented leaked conversations of him with mayors who would allegedly be favored by the federal authorities in the distribution of the budget.

“If he is guilty, he will spend,” Bolsonaro reported in a radio interview. “Let him respond to for his steps. I pray to God that there is no issue. But if there is a issue, the federal law enforcement are investigating. It is a sign that I really don’t interfere with the federal police mainly because it would be staining me, naturally.”
Brazil’s president is going through an uphill fight for his reelection. Previous President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva leads all polls for October’s vote. He hopes to return to the career he had in between 2003-2010.
In a person of the recordings, Ribeiro explained to mayors that Bolsonaro had requested him to prioritize mayors appointed by the two clerics. Brazil’s president denied any connection with the circumstance.
In a statement released on its web site on Wednesday, Brazil’s federal law enforcement explained that 13 research and seizure warrants had been issued and five men and women ended up beneath arrest in the circumstance. Law enforcement did not say no matter if the the two pastors stated in the recordings have been jailed.
